REMOTE JOB WITH REQUIRED TRAVEL
Job Purpose
The ATP is responsible for managing and overseeing mobility equipment referrals for the Company while building and expanding market share and increasing overall profitability. This role combines clinical expertise, operational accountability, and market development across multiple states.
General Expectations
Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
Comply with all applicable company policies, procedures, and patient protocols
Adhere to all current government regulations and professional standards related to patient care
Develop and maintain working knowledge of current rehabilitation products, services offered by the Company, and applicable insurance coverage and reimbursement guidelines
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead Management
Contact all leads to schedule in-home evaluations within one (1) business day of referral receipt
Complete in-home evaluations within two (2) weeks of referral receipt, assuming client availability
Coordinate evaluation recommendations with other clinicians as needed (PT, OT, SLP, PDN nurses, etc.)
Complete Company evaluation paperwork accurately and timely
Medical Review Submission
Submit all required documentation to Medical Review within three (3) weeks of completing the evaluation
Ensure submissions include:
Completed Company evaluation form
Retail quote and completed vendor order forms for all recommended items
Dealer quotes for all recommended items
Letter of Medical Necessity that clearly articulates the client’s medical needs within their living environment
Supporting clinical documentation (signed PT/OT evaluations, clinic notes, and signed LMNs)
Accurate submissions require that:
Only fundable equipment is recommended
Any private-pay items are clearly documented and agreed upon prior to submission
All forms are completed in full without missing information
Each recommended item is fully supported by medical necessity documentation
Medical Review can advance the submission without additional clarification
All referrals should be completed and submitted to Medical Review within five (5) weeks from initial contact, dependent on client availability.
Equipment Margin Management
Maintain an expected cost of sale of 52% (48% margin) for adaptive equipment
Recommend equipment that meets clinical needs while aligning with margin expectations
Work with vendors to reduce equipment cost where possible
Manage demo equipment and update SharePoint records accordingly
Market Development & Expansion
Schedule or co-schedule at least one (1) in-service per month with referral clinics
Follow up with existing referral sources at least once every two (2) weeks
While assigned to a state or region, collaborate with Field Marketing Representatives to support evaluations generated through field marketing efforts
Proactively call on rehabilitation clinics, hospitals, and referral sources while in assigned territories to strengthen relationships and drive self-referrals
Serve as a clinical and technical resource to referral partners during market visits
Work Ethics & Time Management
Expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week; extensive travel and market coverage will frequently require additional hours
Typical work hours begin at or before 8:00 a.m. and extend through at least 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
Manage time efficiently to eliminate downtime
Schedule evaluations geographically to minimize travel time
Avoid personal use of Company time
Professionalism & Communication
Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude
Assist new hires and colleagues as needed
Dress professionally and maintain a clean Company vehicle
Communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully
Remain accessible during working hours and respond to supervisors within one (1) hour of missed communication
Update all Company software systems (e.g., Brightree, SharePoint, calendars) within one (1) business day of evaluations or field activity
Policies & Compliance
Adhere to all Company policies and procedures
Maintain compliance with all licensure and certification requirements
On-Call Responsibilities
Available after hours for emergencies requiring attention
Travel & Geographic Coverage
This position requires extensive travel of up to 100%, including multi-state coverage. The ATP may be assigned to specific states or regions for defined periods of time and is expected to support all evaluation, referral, and market development needs while in those areas. Overnight travel is frequently required. The employee is responsible for securing travel accommodations in accordance with Company travel policies and budget guidelines.
CRT Knowledge
Maintain and expand knowledge of Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) products and payer-specific funding guidelines.
Company Vehicle Responsibilities
Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle interior and exterior
Keep vehicle service records current
Report incidents immediately
No personal use of Company vehicles
No unauthorized passengers
Training
Provide training to internal and delivery staff on newly introduced products.
Experience & Qualifications
Prior knowledge of rehabilitation products
Minimum of two (2) years of DME experience
Maintain active ATP (Assistive Technology Practitioner) certification
Knowledge of major payer reimbursement guidelines
Ability to work independently
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Willingness and ability to travel up to 100%, including multi-state assignments
Willingness to work a flexible schedule
Must carry personal liability insurance with a minimum limit of $100,000
Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, Brightree, and related software systems
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Positive influence on team members
Ability to manage multiple priorities and close the loop on tasks
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this position, an employee may be required to stand for extended periods of time and must talk and hear. Occasional stooping, bending, twisting and crouching may be required. The employee sits, walks, kneels and reaches with hands and arms. May be required to lift and/or move up to 200 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
