Assistive Technology Therapist: The Assistive Technology therapist is responsible for evaluating and treating inpatients and outpatients (adolescent, adult, and geriatric) assigned to determine short-term and long-term goals for the provision and training in assistive technology equipment in conjunction with the patient and other Shepherd Center team members. The therapist will develop and implement a comprehensive treatment program to meet these goals. This hands-on role greatly improves the patient experience through rehabilitation services and collaborates with others to analyze and resolve issues in order to maximize patient’s independence.
-Uses evaluation findings to determine appropriate assistive technology to improve independence with communication, device and environmental access.
-Develops and implements treatment program to further patient's communication, device and environmental access, which is then periodically reassessed and adapted.
-Plans and delivers effective Patient and Family Training to ensure proper patient care.
-Completes administrative tasks including medical documentation as necessary.
-Collaborates with other assistive technology departments and other programs when appropriate.
-Effectively participates in intra-departmental staff meetings, and intra-departmental discipline/program committee assignments.
-Keeps up to date with developing assistive technology to maintain state of the art service provision in assistive technology
-Current or eligible Georgia licensure in the related discipline
Qualifications: - Able to creatively build a therapeutic plan that is patient centered with ability to address functional needs in the home and community. - Able to work with patients in addressing return to school and return to work needs. - Experience with providing clinical services via telehealth desired. - SLP candidates must have completed CFY and obtained ASHA CCC
- Valid GA clinical license
