In Durable Medical Community, an ATP is usually a physical therapist, an occupational therapist or supplier who has met the ATP standards for knowledge about wheelchair and seating products along with other technologies. An ATP has to ensure proper seating and fitting of rehab wheelchairs and their accessories.
Job Requirement: Minimum Qualification Skills and Knowledge Skills required: Extensive knowledge of rehabilitation equipment is required as well as knowledge of wheeled mobility systems, seating, and positioning, ambulation assistance, environmental control and assistance in daily living. Candidate must possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written as well as excellent customer service skills. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of clinical experience with extensive knowledge of rehabilitation equipment and technology. Candidate should possess ATP credentials.
Essential Functions Works effectively with other company employees, managers and department. Attends all in-service educational meetings as determined by management. Responsible for maintaining a strong working knowledge of products and services. Evaluate, assess and fit all rehabilitation patients with proper seating and accessories. Complete fully a seating and evaluation form for each rehabilitation patient. Assess the functional limitations of a rehabilitation patient. Asses the ability to transfer on all rehabilitation patients. Asses the amount of in-home assistance the patient has access to. Assess any wheelchair the patient is currently using when available. Asses the home of the patient to ensure proper access for the rehabilitation equipment. Record body measurements of the patient. Provide information on rehabilitation wheelchair and any accessories needed for the patient. Provide all new seating information rehabilitation patients.
Candidate must demonstrate proficiency in a fast-paced environment with unscheduled interruptions while maintaining an acceptable judgment, responsibility, and assumptions for decisions, consequences, and results. Candidate must demonstrate good organization, time management, and communication skills working independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Demands: Candidate must demo-state the ability to work in standard office as well as in the home of patients as needed. Candidate must have the ability to maintain attention to details and precise measurements. Candidate must possess the strength to lift or move any necessary equipment needed in the fitting or positioning of a rehabilitation patient.
Assistive Technology Practitioner Licence.
Maintains ATP certification.
Valid Drivers Licence.
Job-related experience within the field of Mobility seating and positioning.
