We are hiring a director for our Wheelchair Enhancement Center who will also be our primary adaptive technology specialist. This position oversees one FTE staff member who assists in maintaining 96 power wheelchairs for our long term care residents.
The Boston Home’s Wheelchair Enhancement Center provides wheelchair repair, maintenance and accessibility services to our long term care residents and to private individuals and to other long-term care facilities. Our clients receive customized enhancements for their wheelchairs to increase their comfort and independence. Customization might include attaching an iPad or reprogramming the drive software for improved control.
Qualifications for this position include: a strong working knowledge of power wheelchair repair and maintenance; recent experience customizing wheelchairs for driving and personal electronic devices; an interest in research and design; and a highly collaborative manner.
