Matheny is a special hospital for children and adults with medically complex developmental disabilities. Matheny’s mission is to provide exceptional care and an optimal quality of life for children and adults with special needs and medically complex developmental disabilities. The Assistive Technology Professional performs the following job duties: Develops and is knowledgeable of special equipment programs in area of expertise. Designs special equipment for individual clients based upon needs and recommendations from program staff. Fabricates or oversees the fabrication of special equipment for individual clients based on individual needs plans and designs. Attends appropriate clinics and/or meetings prior to fabrication of individualized client equipment. Makes recommendations at appropriate clinics for special equipment but especially for individuals with complex positioning and mobility needs. Processes orders for special equipment such as wheelchairs, wheelchair accessories and or durable medical equipment (DME). Delivers ordered equipment to clients when it’s available and ensures that it meets their needs. Provides training in areas of specialization to Matheny staff and to other professional as appropriate. Documents development of special equipment according to department requirements. Consistently meets departmental standards for productivity by completing tasks within established timeframes. Successfully completes 20 hours of approved training in Assistive Technology for the purpose of recertification every two years. Provides proof of recertification and proof of CEU completion to supervisor and Human Resources office.
Advanced training in related specialty. Experience in the area of Complex Rehabilitation and associated equipment RESNA certified Assistive Technology Professional Experience with wheelchair positioning and seating Familiarity with mobility products
