Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities:

The Department of Special Education and Reading is seeking to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor to begin fall 2019. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching special education certification courses, courses in the M.S. concentrations of Learning Disabilities (LD) and Assistive Technology (AT). Faculty are assigned a 12-credit hour load each semester. In addition to teaching responsibilities, faculty are expected to engage in scholarship/creative activity, service to the department and University, and student advising.
Earned doctorate or ABD in Special Education or related area; three years of full-time teaching experience with students with Learning Disabilities; knowledge and/or experience in Assistive Technology to support individuals with disabilities; and ability to engage in meaningful scholarship/creative activity. If ABD, candidate must have earned doctorate by the end of the first year of appointment.
Developing and/or demonstrated record of scholarship/creative activity; excellent written and oral communication skills; demonstrated effectiveness in serving diverse student populations; demonstrated effectiveness in leadership roles; documented university teaching experience; and advanced sequence of coursework in Assistive Technology.
