POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for the assessment of patient needs and the selection and instruction of DME services, within RMS in Medical Services, in accordance with the organization’s Mission and Core Values, utilizing Person-Centered Practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS Assess patient needs and select equipment/services. •Determines the best piece of equipment to meet patient needs, involving the patients, families, and caregivers in the selection process. •Discusses pricing, billing and funding options with the patients, families, and caregivers associated with the financial welfare of the patient. •Offers the patient, families and caregivers product choices. •Participates in requesting product quotes, coding, pricing, ordering, assembling, adjusting, modifying, delivery, and inventory control. •Completes and maintains proper paperwork for assessments, fittings, and repairs. •Participates in the marketing of RMS services to physicians, therapists, schools and other markets. Provides product and educational information in the areas of wheeled mobility, seating and positioning, ambulation assistance, environmental controls, augmented communication and activities of daily living assistive devices.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field required. Assistive Technology Practitioner (RESNA ATP) certification preferred but not required. A minimum of three years of clinical experience with DME experience preferred. Valid South Dakota driver’s license required, with clean driving record.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES •Knowledge of assistive technology products. •Technological competence to use computers and software utilized by the organization. •Skill in the use of power tools. •Communication skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires repetitive movements of the wrists, hands and/fingers, and frequent bending and kneeling. This position has been evaluated as a Level III in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) definition of Occupational Exposure to blood borne pathogens.
