The seating specialist will utilize their skills as a physical therapist to evaluate posture, motor control and mobility function to determine the most appropriate seating or mobility system for the child. They evaluated the medical need for wheelchairs, standers, gait trainers, walkers and other devices. They will assist with the educating the treatment staff on the latest seating and mobility equipment and the most appropriate devices for their patients. The seating specialist will work to with the physical therapy department in the use of outcomes to evaluate the effectiveness of equipment recommendations and create evidence in the field of seating and mobility.
Seating and mobility experience as well as SMS and ATP certification is preferred but not required, will offer training to obtain.
